My very own Alice in Wonderland mission…

Posted on 03 June 2010 by Jenn

Wow – what a firkin weird-ass week! For my last Steri mission I got tipped off that awesomeness itself (Taxi Violence) was rehearsing in Cape Town. So I invaded the rad cool tunes venue of Kill City Blues in Cape Town to investigate. Hallou - the place is freakin dodge looking (bergies are like the wall paper on the outside), but once you hear the awesome sounds coming outta there you just have to go in and check it out for yourself – and so down the rabbit-hole I went, Alice in Wonderland style (if you know what I mean).

After stumbling for a minute or two in the dark I FINALLY found Taxi Violence. Just in case you don’t know (which I won’t admit out loud if you don’t), these guys have been rocking their high-energy brand of bone-rattling retro hard rock since 2004!

Musically, they’re like Steri’s to Steri-lovers – a must have on the local rock scene. These okes are seriously the fathers of rad…I even got to sit in on the rehearsal (beat that!)

As you can see, they were pretty psyched to see me…

Anika.

First Flavour face-off - Banana and Bubblegum declare war!!!!

Posted on 26 May 2010 by Jenn

Last week, the Flavour Nation was officially launched to much rejoicing in the streets, BUT as anyone who has ever read a history book knows, it’s not a proper nation until war is declared!

Our first two Steri fans have come forward to risk their lives in the ultimate declaration of love to their favourite Steri flavour. Last week Chris Rawlinson and Cape Town Girl, bloggers extraordinaire, engaged in one of the most time-honoured and respected forms of modern warfare (Hungry Hippos!) in support of their calcium dose of choice.

With Chris representing Banana and Alex fighting for Bubblegum the hippo freak fest was on! Even the entire Steri-head fan club made an appearance to shout “Viva Bubblegum “ and “Free Banana” while the hippos chomped mercilessly on the battlefield.

It was a close battle, but ultimately it was Bubblegum who whipped Banana’s sweet lil ass…Banana was immediately escorted out of the building due to sulky and sour behaviour.

Check out da peeecks :

The return of Steri Justice

Posted on 23 April 2010 by Jenn

In March we introduced you to the totally awesome Dominic Kay (one of our Official unofficial Ambassadors) after she sent in an ahsum Steri Justice cartoon, and it seems that she’s been rather busy of late.

Behold the awesomeness that is Steri Justice… the series (with a little help from colouring-in-queen Karyn)

Heavy metal drop in nowheresville

Posted on 09 March 2010 by Jenn

So for my last drop I really had to go on a quest – like in freakin bundu-bashing to meet up with the awesome ouks from Zinkplaat (translation = corrugated metal). But boy-o-boy it was worth the mission…Firstly I was told to meet them on this weird deserted farm place in the middle of flippen nowhere (uh somerset west) where they were supposed to be rehearsing. Yeah, when I got there it was pitch black, with a few random houses and a bunch of goats…you can imagine.

Eventually I found them! BUT only to find out that their lead guitarist had pitched up to the rehearsal without his guitar…(apparently its not an obvious thing to bring along). Eventually I ended up drinking some stumpies with the guys (while waiting for mr guitar dude to return)…

Thanks guys for being rad (and not locking me in the basement with the goats)
Anika.

Steri saves Saving Safari with an emergency drop

Posted on 08 December 2009 by Jenn

Anika, our new Steri intern, insisted on writing a post in Afrikaans. She just did an emergency drop with Bellville hopefuls Saving Safari (uh interesting name there ouens). If you’re in a band and want your own Steri rider let us know and we’ll send her around to deliver.
