Now who would have thought a scruffy band like Ashtray Electric could be “fashionably late”…For real - I almost though I had been stood up (silent sob). Just as I was about to leave Libertas Theatre in Stellies after another awesome Steri quest I felt the earth like freakin rumble – yip the guys came running at me like a mad ass stampede. I’d be lying if I said that I’m not use to this – my super stash of Steri goodness does tend bring out the weird beggish animals in people…the attacking vulture kind if you know what I mean?
ANYWHOO - I have absolutely no clue who this dude is, but I think he pretty much got it right - “This new, young indie band (Ashtray Electric) has the same energy as Adam and the Ants, the sleaziness of the likes of Slade and the sex appeal of T- Rex. They’re much more than these influences, though, evoking sentiments that are entirely local.” Chris Roper, review in Best Life.
