An ode to Steri

Posted on 20 January 2010

humptydumptyc2a9milot

So we’ve had songs (with music videos), advertscartoons and now Steri even has it’s very own uh poem…

We’re not sure how much we want to encourage this kind of thing but here it is (Johan Naude is the tortured literary genius behind this gem).

Long ago and far away,

There was a boy

Who had no joy.

He was not happy (always crappy),

Like a chewed up chappy.

Never satisfied,

Always cried,

Until he had a sip of… Steri Stumpie.

No more Humpty Dumpty!

No need to put this boy together

Because he was oh so happy forever.

The taste made him fly,

Never cry,

Joy in a bottle,

Puts the senses in full throttle!

Introducing the latest Steri Ambassador

Posted on 20 November 2009

971-james_lane_-_steri_ambassador

We asked our new Steri Ambassador James to tell us a little more about himself ahead of his Steriship ceremony on Monday.

This is his story:

It is quite an honour being an official unofficial Steri Stumpie Ambassador :) I would feel the weight of carrying the responsibility of … but fortunately it’s easy to be a good representative, since you just sit back with a Steri and enjoy…piece of cake

My favourite flavour - Definately CHOCOLATE on odd days a cream soda or bannana is pretty good. The chocolate ones taste the best!

I’m nearly finished my PhD in Computer Science at UCT, specializing in Scientific Visualization…a hard job, and had many late nights. Must say, a few Steri’s can take you through those late nights quite nicely.

I think I’ve had up to 3 Steri’s in a day, but I think a better question is how many have you had with friends in a day and that must be about 12-rough estimate…see Steri’s all about the hanging out with friends or even stranger :) - Looking forward to having a Steri with you and the band.

I don’t know if I’d call it a ritual, but, there is the Steri olympics, where we try to set new world records for distance - Steri squirting…the only way to drink Steri, just like aero is better with the bubbles, so is Steri.

Jonny should be the Steri ambassador-can I nominate him for the next time. Jonny was the one who made the Steri video all by himself-it’s so brilliant! We had a Steri commitee and blog…thanks to Shell Thomas, Victor her brother - they even have a Steri bird…see now Shell Cloete and her , you should really look at steriparty.blogspot.com Jonny came down for the meeting and had the brilliant idea of having us give a Steri to the little girl in ImizamaYethu. Jonny D rocks! Jonny D can tell you more…

Ambassador nomination of the week

Posted on 10 November 2009

Now this is how to get the kats at Stump Towers to cough up furballs of excitement over an ambassador nomination. Jonathon and James met 8 years ago and a friendship was immediately ignited by a healthy obsession with the stumpster… After not much pondering, over many a steri stumpie, together they went on a mission to save the world and grow the cult of Steri.

They have dutifully started up their own steri fan page, a blog and created their own steri ad.

We’re particularly excited about the ad as it means we can save the 10 million big ones we had saved for an ad campaign and create  20ft tall steri-coloured robot cows instead. Woo Hah.

But uh dude are you giving this girl a Steri or wrestling her and her brother for it…? We’ll overlook it this time but play nice with the steris out there ok?!

Toffee Caramel T-shirt design by Dylan Jones

Toffee Caramel T-shirt design by Ctrl-Click

Q: Hey Ctrl-Click aka Dylan Jones #2 (yes, we have 3 Dylan Jones designing us shirts). It’s clearly a creative name. How long have you been working as a creative?
A: About 3 years.

Q: Coolio. Tell us how many Steri Stumpies do you drink a week?
A: 1.

Q: A man of moderation, clearly. So when’s your favourite time of day to drink a Steri Stumpie?
A: Mainly when I’m working and feel like a small inner smile.

Q: That just gave us goosebumps. Small inner smiles… you’re killing us. What’s your favourite flavour Steri Stumpie?
A: Banana.

Q. Banana! Reminds us of that great bananaphone song. Ring Ring Ring Ring bananaphone… No? Okay. Do you find Steri Stumpies help you with your ideas?
A: No, not really.

Q: Sorry about that. We try to infuse them awesomeness. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. What do you use as inspiration for you work?
A: The World - my imagination + lots of good music.

Q: We love the world! We love your imagination too - just look at the shirt it produced.  Please give us a link to any awesome projects you’re working on right now, so people can see more of your radness.

A note on Dylan’s design:

“It’s meant to remind you of that age of innocence where your happiness was guaranteed. And if your childhood never provided this feeling, it serves to awaken you to the fact that the purity of an innocent child like playing action can move you to discovering it. It will become a mantra for not taking life to seriously & occasionally remembering that we’ve got to take ourselves back to a simple relaxing place to find perspective on where we are now.

Bring back the swings and re-disscover the joy of childhood. And do it with a good ‘ol Steri-Stumpie. Whether you like to make a hole in the bottom with your badge pin or strategically aim a straw and pierce the bottle to get to the goodness, you can’t deny the relaxing effect that an icon of our generation provides.” - Dylan Jones, Age 22 going on 10
